Our Mission

NOPA Neighbors for Sensible Growth (NNSG) is an independent group of NOPA residents and small business owners that strongly believe that developers in San Francisco should work collaboratively with the SF Planning Department and local residents to create building solutions that serve the needs of the entire community.

We strongly oppose the added height allowances granted to the developers of the proposed 9-story building being planned for the Lofrano property at 1355 Fulton St. SF.  The developers of this property have refused to initiate contact with the community, nor attempted to establish meaningful dialogue.

NNSG supports the construction of affordable housing at all income levels within NOPA and we advocate for the development of rental and owned properties that are truly affordable, and do not contribute to the rapidly escalating income disparity in San Francisco.

This proposed 9-story project is structurally and architecturally incompatible and out of scale with the surrounding neighborhood, and contains no guarantees for any specific number of affordable units.

NNSG is asking for:

  • Affordability beyond the present 18% mandated by SF Planning
  • Restrictions on the height significantly below the presently proposed 6 to 9 stories
  • cost projections on size and selling prices of the condo units
  • A breakdown of how many rental and condo units
  • The developers’ adherence to the recommendations of the SF Planning Department’s preliminary analysis of the initial application
